Psalms 23:3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Imagine a world in which there is no right or wrong, but only the personal and individual morality of millions and millions of people, each brought up by opposing standards and differing values, passed on by previous family members. Imagine a world where there is only personal preference, and no absolute truth, nothing to reference as a moral starting point, and no final authority to judge whether a thing is right or wrong. My wrong could be your right. What offends me may motivate you. Think of moral chaos and confusion; think of the many victims and innocent sufferers, wounded and damaged by another human being, because they live by an opposing worldview that allows them to feel justified by their actions as they hurt others. We live in a world now where Muslim extremists are purposely torturing and murdering thousands of innocent victims, simply because they have opposing values. As they violently murder these people, publishing videos of their terrorism, and bragging to the world about their atrocities, they actually believe they are furthering the ideals of their prophet Muhammad, thereby hastening the final days that will lead to an ultimate and final battle to defeat and kill off all humanity with values other than their own. Think of ISIS in the year 2015, and maybe, just maybe, the thought of a divine Guide who longs to grab your hand and lead you down a righteous path called the abundant and prosperous life, might grab your attention. It certainly captures my attention. I want to know truth. I want to know the moral absolutes that lead to God. I want to know where the good life is, and find it. I want to be on a pathway that leads to the fulfillment of my destiny. I want God to seek me out, grab my hand, and lead my down His pathway of right living, so that I will have peace in my soul, knowing that He will be glorified and lifted up. Bottom line is I want my life to enable others to know and love God, and I can only do that when I surrender my own beliefs about right and wrong, and live on His pathway of righteousness.
Father, I surrender my life to your will. Take my hand and lead me on. May your name be lifted high and honored by all. Amen.
